Pharma Tech Expands Capabilities with Mediseal Sachet Equipment Installation

Pharma Tech's new Mediseal sachet equipment is set to increase sachet production by nearly 60 million units annually. The endeavor revolves around the recent installation of a high-speed vertical pouching line offering increased productivity; by using volumetric filling rather than auger filling, tighter fill weight tolerances can be achieved. The pouching line includes add-ons like inline X-ray and checkweighing systems, and an automated cartoner further streamlines the process.

Expected to be operational by Q3 2018, the line will be located at the Royston facility and housed in a brand new suite designed specifically for this Mediseal technology.

Dedication to Improvement

Fosters Efficiency Efforts

In accordance with Pharma Tech's brand promise of operational excellence, the company has a series of projects underway that will increase overall efficiency and lower costs by enforcing downtime reduction, improving space utilization, and implementing changeover optimization.

For example, the installation of an additional Fette tablet press will yield a 30% increase in throughput for effervescent manufacturing. The initiation of a 480-minute runtime system will further increase throughput, as well as significantly reduce waste.

Additionally, Pharma Tech has incorporated a smart-vue system throughout its production facilities and warehouses, providing digitized quality control parameters including temperature and humidity. This invaluable asset will facilitate rapid response times and reduce the potential for issues affiliated with chart recorders.

New Products Nearing

Pharma Tech currently has four products in development that will soon be commercialized. These include a prescription sachet and a medical device for surgical applications. Additionally, the company is developing a generic drug marking Pharma Tech's first foray into this segment.

Pharma Tech has also heightened its focus on nutritional products. As such, the fourth product is a blended nutritional packaged in a sachet. The set of new products is set to reaffirm Pharma Tech's exemplary performance record while expanding the company's footprint into "ultra-niche" sectors such as nutritionals and nutraceuticals.
